The Judges Lodging is a Grade II listed building. The building is now run as a museum with the 18th century courthouse and surrounding rooms meticulous preserved as originally used.

The focus of the completed work was to address repairs as highlighted by a Survey carried out by Mr Andrew Arrol of Arrol & Snell Architects.The package of works completed included urgent high-level roof repairs,stone repairs, weathering details improved, and a complete decoration of the front principal elevation.

LEAD VALLEYS

The two main central leaking valley gutter linings where stripped and the timber substructure configured to meet Lead Sheet Association specification.Code 7 sand cast lead was laid in strict accordance with LSA standards.

WINDOWS

Repairs were carried out to thesash windowsandtwowereremoved, stripped down and fully overhauled bring back to full working order.All windows where thoroughly sanded down and repainted.

PRINCIPAL ELEVATION

Paintwork to the principal elevation was pre-treated with KEIM STS 7 and then covered in protective film to prevent product fromdrying.Where stone substrate hadbecome friable,the matrix binderwastreatedby means of stone consolidationusing Keim Silex OH.Defective stone surfaces were repaired with the Keim Restauro repair system. The whole elevation was then painted with two coats of Keim Paint.

CAST IRON COLUMNS/RAILINGS

The original iron columns were redecorated to make them look like stone columns as originally intended by adding very fine aggregate to the paint.The frontside iron railings were also repaired and re-decorated as part of the project.
